baby, baby!

baby Yes, I've been absent for awhile as baby Carter was born on June 24, at 4:08pm. It all went pretty quick, and I was home from the hospital in 3 hours, thanks to my amazing midwives. It paid dividends to be healthy, and I am so thankful that I really made an even extra effort to continue to eat and be as healthful as possible. I mean healthful, in that I ate foods that I prepared and didn't come from the freezer section in boxes with ingredients I can't pronounce, and foods that come from the aisles of the grocery store that have expiry dates that are technically redundant. Yes, nutella was probably close to the worst thing I ate. I felt great virtually the entire pregnancy, even despite my own expectations! Luckily, I had stocked the freezer with many soups, cooked grains, and marinated meats for the barbeque, and so there hasn't been a lot of "cooking" going on. Well, Jeff has been cooking, and I turned the stove on for the first time yesterday to boil some water for tea. It almost felt strange! Some semblance of regularly scheduled programming will be resuming soon, but I do still have a few Italy (!!!) posts to post too.
