perfumed popcorn

all gone Yes, I know it's empty, but I'm not apologizing. I just finished the bowl of popcorn, and a little cup of Thomas Haas aztec hot chocolate. Somehow I feel a little zen-like, but I think it's just bulging belly relationship. I've had the hot chocolate before, and it's nummy, and good for those lazy days when I am too pathetic to actually...ummm...well chop some chocolate. Now call me what you will, but I don't usually eat salty snacks that come from a bag. I'm not a total health nut, I swear, but I just would rather eat something sweeter, than something salty, especially if I can't pronounce most of the ingredients. However, I have this thing for hot chocolate and popcorn. Not mixing them together or anything, but just eating both semi-simultaneously. A little salt of the popcorn, and a little sweet richness from the coooa, just a little tickle to the senses. Today though, things just got extra delicious. I'm just going to have to break it to you, and I can understand and relate to a disdain of white truffle oil, but hear me out. If you don't like it, perhaps it was rancid, or just not good? Or maybe it was just too much; been there done that. But maybe there is hope? We just picked up another, newer (albeit it pricier bottle), but it is divine. And upon the recommendation of a friend, I put it on my popcorn. Honestly, I was a bit terrified, because truffle oil can be overwhelming and devastatingly nauseating. So I did add it to melted butter. But then, I got to tasting things, and found that the popcorn could stand more. Actually, a lot more, and on it went. I added quite a bit, and some kosher salt, and now that's all I can think about. Worth trying indeed. *specific amounts are basically up to personal taste, and the brand of truffle oil.

I have to smile at this post! :)

I always loved to eat chocolate fudge with my popcorn. I don't do it often, but its something from my childhood that I remember and loved!

Have you had the popcorn at the Muse? They drizzle it with truffle oil too. I thought the whole concept was weird...until I tried it that is! I've always wanted to try it at home, but I've yet to splurge on a great bottle - where did you get yours?

Andrea - ummm well I got it at Bite Groceteria (I know it seems like I get everything there...), and LOVE it. I've had several other bottles before, but they lost their gusto pretty quick.

hot choc and popcorns sounds like a good idea :) I've tried french fries with truffle oil before and it was very morish! So I can imagine how good this snack was :)
