Some combinations with chocolate we are familiar with; chocolate with hazelnut, chocolate and orange, chocolate and raspberry. But how about chocolate and curry, or chocolate and taleggio cheese? Fennel pollen? These are Vosges chocolates. They hail from Chicago, but there is also an outpost in Las Vegas, and I generally always seem to pick up some new kind of chocolate every time I travel. Can you blame me? Somehow, there is usually some kind of adventure to find the chocolate. And major decision making... how much can I really bring home? It's tough. Luckily, Vosges was easy to find, but the chocolates themselves are for the adventurous at heart. Although, nothing is offensive. The chocolates are ultimately extremely palatable, albeit unique. The flavours are a bit more like just a dusting, but there is something to be said for a new chocolate experience. And chocolate experiences are what Vosges is all about. The creator, Katrina Markoff, is an entrepreneur of the future; creative, innovative, daring, and is connected to her world. So is her product. She doesn't just create chocolates, but also ice creams, and many other confections, which she generally groups by theme. Sometimes her chocolates come with cd's, but I was just interested in the chocolates, which are very good, but these chcolates are also about the concept behind the chocolate. My favourite was the "hip-hop"; white chocolate with gold leaf, and Krug champagne. Ok, there's a little fun and whimsy in there too. A bit more on the concept behind the chocolates, and a feast for anyone suffering from visual deprivation.
