apple pie oatmeal

Photobucket This morning, I decided that instead of blueberries in my oatmeal, it was time for a change. Besides, apples are in season, and I'm getting tired of the same thing every weekday morning. This is really easy, and hopefully it will power me through the entire morning! Apple Pie Oatmeal (serves 1) 1/2 cup slow cooking oats 1 tbsp wheatgerm cinnamon to taste 3/4 cup water 1 apple, chopped stevia, or maple syrup to sweeten to taste 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1. Combine the oats, wheatgerm, cinnamon, and water in a microwave proof bowl. Microwave on high for at least one minute. Depending on your microwave, you might need more time. 2. Stir in some of the sweetener of choice (you can always add more later). Add the chopped apple, and dollop the yogurt on top. Enjoy!

Hey that's a great idea. We have some apples that a friend gave to us, so we'll be doing this (and other things) for breakfast.

Instead of chunks, do you think making applesauce and then adding that to the oatmeal would work?

nate-n-annie - You could definitely use applesauce - but you could also grate an apple, which has a little less overwhelming crunch than the chunks.

Yum! I'm always looking for new things to put in my morning hot cereal. Lately, I've been going for pumpkin, and adding some nuts and seeds for a little extra texture and taste, but I always forget apples first thing in the morning . . .

(BTW, I've added a link to you on my blog. And you, J and I need to do dinner soon!)

(oh - and your oatmeal sounds really good! Nothing like disguising breakfast as dessert)

Yum, that sounds like some oats I made a few days ago, but I used applesauce instead. I did put some chopped apples into my yogurt this morning though - I guess it's that time of year!! :)

I've been trying to figure out how I can make oatmeal that I want to eat (I have trouble eating mushy textures). This sounds perfect, can't wait to try it!
